September Events

Work is incredibly busy at the moment so I’ve only had time to research a handful of events. I’m sure there are loads more so please drop me a comment below! Now I should get back to preparing for Middle Earth Weekend and our events at Sarehole Mill (look at me, plugging something which involves absolutely no dead people!)

Here’s the events:

DDD12 conference – Death, Dying and the Disposal of the Body: “Eastern and Western Ways of Dying and Death”

This is the big one – the biannual conference that everyone wants to attend. This year it’s from 2nd – 6th September 2015, at the University of Alba Iulia, Romania. How I wish I could go! A death conference in Transylvania!!! All the details are here.

Hidden Rookwood Sculpture Trail, Sydney

Explore Rookwood and ponder the creative expression hidden in the cemetery during this FREE sculpture trail which runs from September 18th to October 18th 2015. The info is here.

Heritage Walks of City of London Cemetery

Walks run monthly throughout the summer, with extra tours in September for Open House weekend. Tours are on Saturday 19th September and Sunday 20th September 2015, running between 10am-12noon, and 1pm-3pm. For more information about the walks, check here. To book call 020 8530 2151 or email cemetery@cityoflondon.gov.uk

Heritage Displays about Brandwood End Cemetery

Sadly the cemetery friends can’t run an event for Heritage Open Days this year, but they have put displays in two local libraries instead. I’m definitely going down to Kings Heath to see the early images they found in the archive! Details here.
