Death in Scotland Conference

I’m attending a conference this weekend in Edinburgh:

‘Death in Scotland, from the medieval to the modern: beliefs, attitudes and practices’

It’s a really wonderful opportunity to meet other cemetery researchers and people in related fields. It’s a 3 days conference, absolutely jam-packed with fascinating panels and lectures (see the conference programme here). My only problem is deciding which of the parallel running panels to attend! It’s a really tough choice with so many great speakers. I’d ideally like to attend them all, if only I was capable of being in more than one place…

I’ve never visited Edinburgh before, so I’ve come up a day early to explore a little. My hotel is very close to Carlton Old Burying Ground, so I’m going there first thing in the morning to take some photos. I’ve also got the Edinburgh Castle and Greyfriars on my itinerary and I might even try to book a history or ghost tour.

I’ll post some photos soon!
